Farm Tourism? Go for Pine

How does it work?
Research has shown that providing self-catering tourist accommodation in log cabins on farms can be a viable and sustainable option particularly if sufficient farms work together as a 'business cluster' to maximise on economies and synergies available to them as a group. Several farmers have expressed an interest in pursuing this option.

However, individual farmers need independent specialist advice and guidance on such a project's viability, implications and sustainability. They also need specific advice on the development of their own farm for this purpose and guidance on the actions required to become established. It is further recognised, that although the financial viability can be proven over the medium term, there are both financial and practical problems in the early stages particularly if an individual farmer wants to test the market in a small way.
Countryside Lodges
In response to this demand, Countryside Lodges has put a structure in place to develop a business cluster of farmers and related companies focused on the letting of bespoke Farm Lodges to the leisure market. The upper end of the letting market is being targeted to maximise income and ensure an appropriate client base is attracted to the farms. This initiative can be viewed as a way in which the farming community is seen to be re-connecting with consumers and providing access to farms in a controlled way.
The initiative is now up and running in the East of England and huge interest is being generated nationwide. It is recognised that the scheme cannot be allowed to become overcrowded and that farm location and positive proprietor attitude are paramount to the ongoing success of the initiative.
Countryside Lodges, a division of Omar Homes Ltd will provide the leisure industry experience and expertise needed to ensure the on-going success of the initiative and will also fund some of the start up costs to fast-track farmers/landowners into the leisure market.
